Communications Research Analyst

JANSON Communications is a full-service strategic communications firm specializing in branding and messaging for Defense, Aerospace and Government IT clients.

We are seeking a Communications Research Analyst.  This individual will be responsible for researching market conditions in local, regional, and national areas to determine potential sales and/or trends within the government and defense markets.

This person will be expected to execute research projects on aggressive deadlines and communicate results effectively. The unique niche that JANSON serves calls for a creative and innovative approach to problems and we seek someone with an inquisitive and positive attitude.

Primary responsibilities:

• Establish research methodology and design format for data gathering, such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires
• Create visual presentations of data (charts, table, graphics)
• Ability to write and develop content for presentations
• This person will be a supplier of consumer and business insights – not “data dumps” – to account teams and new business teams
• Identify marketing problems and opportunities, define and prioritize information needs, and creatively apply market research techniques to solve problems
• Execute projects utilizing various techniques including: segmentation, positioning, pricing, market assessments and competitive analysis, performance tracking, benchmarking, advertising testing and tracking, and tactical and promotional evaluation
• Achieve the integration of primary market research findings into the development of communications plans and marketing approaches to support customers’ positioning strategies
• Develop target audience profiles, secondary research summaries, and trends reports
• Determine market demand and potential, suppliers servicing the industry, market cost and price structure, service and aftermarket requirements to assist in determining new and current customer needs
• Support Business Development activities

Qualifications:

• Proactive and results-oriented, with solid relational skills
• Working knowledge of statistical tools, market data analysis methods and data visualization
• Detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task and have demonstrated experience interfacing with senior executives and all levels of management
• Advanced strategic thinking and planning, advanced oral and written communication skills, and advanced problem-solving skills are required
• Secret Clearance required with the ability to obtain top secret

Minimum Requirements:

• BS or BA in business, marketing, market research, or statistics and 2-3 years of experience in the field or related field
• Must have a positive, can do attitude and hold high the values of honesty, integrity and teamwork
