Communications Strategist with Public & Congressional Affairs Experience

Seeking a communications specialist with experience in strategic communications and public/ congressional affairs relations. Candidates with a background in writing and communications planning with an emphasis on congressional outreach, stakeholder communications, messaging, creative product development, communication outreach and execution are strongly encouraged to apply. An ideal candidate would have extensive experience in supporting large Army and DoD organizations. Ten years minimum experience with a successful track record of increased responsibility to include project and program management. Experience with senior executives and management at all levels and advanced strategic thinking and planning, strong oral and written communication skills and problem-solving skills are required.

Core responsibilities:

• Develop a broad-range of communication strategies, outreach programs, plans, message management processes, and initiatives and outreach activities that effectively educate, inform, and build relationships with targeted stakeholder groups and Congress
• Develops and executes communications strategies that support identified communication goals; identify needs, objectives and design approaches; develop schedules and budgets as required for each project
• Develops and executes communication strategy planning and message management functions that drive communication service and product development / delivery activities
• Provide communications support as needed to events and internal communications
• Perform other duties as required

Location / Travel:  Primary location will be Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland with a variety of trips to the company headquarters in Manassas, VA, as well as other key organizational locations.  Travel anticipated may be approximately 30%.

Expectations: The individual must be an experienced professional who is proactive and results-oriented, with solid relationship skills, must be detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task and demonstrated experience interfacing with senior executives and all levels of management.

Advanced strategic thinking and planning, advanced oral and written communication skills, and advanced problem-solving skills are required.

The individual must possess strong presentation skills.

Education and experience: An undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, marketing or similar discipline is required.  A master’s degree in a similar field of expertise is strongly preferred.  Ten years minimum experience is required.

Clearance: Seeking an individual with an active Secret Clearance.  Must be able to request and obtain  a top Secret clearance.
